the september issue

Since I love magazines, I’m looking forward to the premiere of The September Issue at the Sundance Film Festival. The September Issue is a documentary chronicling the making of Vogue‘s 2007 issue with Sienna Miller. Filmmaker RJ Cutler filmed the Anna Wintour-approved documentary for eight months in the Vogue offices. Along with footage of Wintour, the film also features great fashion personalities Grace Coddington, Isabel Toledo, Patrick “Get Me” Demarchelier and designers Thakoon Panichgul, Oscar de la Renta, Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquière, Jean Paul Gaultier, Stefano Pilati and Phillip Lim.

One highly anticipated moment in the film is Wintour musing on the end of her career and any insight that can provide as to her future at Vogue. And if that doesn’t offer any revelations, at least Cutler gives a funny quote on the depth at Vogue… “My observation with the creativity in the hallways and offices is that Vogue is like the mist. You don’t think it’s raining and all of a sudden you’re soaking wet.” Umm okay…
