epic proportions

Vogue Paris August 2009
Daria Werbowy, Anja Rubik, Lara Stone, Shalom Harlow, Isabeli Fontana, Malgosia Bela, Lily Donaldson, Natasha Poly, Jacquetta Wheeler, Eniko Mihalik, Sessilee Lopez, Kamila Filipicikova, Elsa Sylvan, Regina Feoktistova, Ranya Mordanova, Tao Okamoto, Dree Hemingway, Garrett Neff / Photographers: Inez and Vinoodh

What do you get when you take Vogue Paris, photogs Inez and Vinoodh and a cabal of the latest and (mostly) greatest models? An epic 64-page editorial highlighting the best looks from the major fashion capitals, styled by the iconic Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle Alt and Joe McKenna.

Each page features a head-to-toe look done in the spirit of one brand — think Daria in Isabel Marant, Anna J. in Jil Sander, Anja in Versace and Malgosia in Hermès. Not every page hits it out of the park, but the overall result is impressive, especially for usually sparse August issues.
In terms of casting, the usual Inez & Vinoodh faves — Anja, Raquel, Eniko, Shalom — are present and deliver while some relative newcomers are mixed in — RL girl Tao Okamoto, Givenchy face Ranya Mordanova, Marc Jacobs runway opener Kamila and “it girl” Dree Hemingway (who just annoys me frankly). Keep in mind, Inez & Vinoodh will only work with models over eighteen so that excludes quite a few editorial up-and-comers (Karlie, Jac, Toni, etc.).

Check out only a fraction of the whole ed below, make sure to click for the full, lovely shot…Vogue take note, this is how a studio-shot editorial with minimal jumping is done!

Note: Holy shit! This is my 150th post!
