Marc Jacobs‘ fall 2010 show was pared down in more ways than one. The front row was missing the usual celeb contingent, the after-party restricted to staff and the collection muted with a palette of creams, greys, browns and yellows. Despite there being less flash, I found the almost-minimal-to-a-Prada degree collection refreshingly wearable. And felt a return to the MJ girl of yore, that being the quirky cool girl a la Sofia Coppola and Jamie Bochert (rumored to be the collection’s archetype model).
So it wasn’t much of a surprise that Bochert closed the show in a sprawling daisy-print gown. What was surprising however was that there were no models of Natasha or Raquel caliber walking, except for Freja IMO. Instead, the cast featured some sure bets (Iris, Karmen, Hanne Gaby, Siri), many exciting up-and-comers (Jac, Hannah Holman, Lindsey Wixson, Frida G.) and some completely new faces as a few girls were supposedly plucked off the street.
